School Program Overview
Our goal, quite frankly, is to provide the best school insurance products, services and support in the industry. It’s more than just products, it’s also our people. It’s about our mission to help people live safer, more secure lives and our responsibility to do the right thing – even when no one is looking. That’s where I makes the difference.
The I difference defines who we are, what we do, and the responsibility we have to make a real difference in the communities in which we live and the nine state Midwestern commercial marketplace we serve.
The companies of Indiana Insurance™ write commercial property and casualty insurance exclusively. Headquartered in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin, we have been protecting businesses and organizations since 1851. Through these many years, we have partnered with our communities, employees, and professional independent agents to serve the needs of our policyholders.
Public or private, our school expertise, supported locally by the best independent agencies in the business, spans more than 30-years. Helping to make schools safer, more secure places to learn and grow is an important endeavor and a responsibility we take seriously.
As the educational environment evolves, we’re continually seeking to provide coverages and services that anticipate the needs and exceed the expectations of our school customers. Just as schools tailor curricula to meet the educational needs of students, we offer a full range of services and optional coverages that allow for tailored insurance programs for schools.
Indiana Insurance is part of Liberty Mutual Group. Liberty Mutual ranks 86th on the Fortune 500 list of largest U.S. Corporations and is the fifth largest U.S. property and casualty insurer based on 2008 revenues and direct written premium. The company has financial strength ratings of “Excellent” (A) from A.M. Best Company, “Good” (A2) from Moody’s Investor Service, and “Strong” (A-) from Standard & Poor's.
In addition to this tremendous financial strength and security, Liberty Mutual Group and Indiana Insurance are well known and respected as being leaders in school Loss Prevention products, services, and expertise.

Claim Services
The moment of truth arrives when you need us the most – when a loss occurs. Working with our independent agency partners, our goal is to provide industry leading claims service to every school we insure. No one wants a loss to occur, but when one does, it is important to understand the guiding principles that form the foundation for our claim processes and procedures.
Our guiding principles emphasize the efficient routing of claims to the most appropriate claim professional, minimizing the use of outside vendors, and
maintaining stringent standards for timely service, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. These philosophies allow us to get each claim to the right person as
quickly as possible. Our goal is to manage less severe claims quickly, and focus critically important resources on more complex or catastrophic claims.
We develop, design and implement claim programs that respond to the ever changing needs of our school customers. Each approach is designed with a single goal in mind: to exceed your service expectations by delivering on our commitment to provide fair, proactive and empathetic claims service should a loss occur.
To ensure prompt and efficient attention to each claim, we have established the Indiana Insurance ANYTIME Claim Service™ (ANYTIME) for the initial reporting of all claims. One call to 1-800-279-7221 is all that is needed to begin the claims process. ANYTIME is staffed 24-hours a day – 7 days a week – 365 days a year. This first point of contact has been established for both agents and policyholders to
help to ensure each claim starts off right.
Specialized Legal Services for Schools
In addition to our team of specialists available to handle losses to school buildings, buses, or injuries to faculty and staff members, Indiana Insurance utilizes a select panel of attorneys in your state to act as “school counsel”. Panel members are experts in school liability issues and are knowledgeable about local
codes and practices.
Loss Prevention – Safer Schools Services
Performing once a claim occurs is one thing, but working with you to help prevent a claim is quite another. We can’t make schools resistant to mishaps or catastrophes, but working with your local independent agent, we can assist in identifying potential dangers to help you avoid, or at least minimize your potential for loss.
Loss Prevention serves a vital role in our operation. Our highly trained Safer School Consultants provide specialized consultative services. These services are designed to assist school administrators, faculty and staff members in identifying and controlling day-to-day safety and security exposures.
Our consultants are located throughout our operating territory and are all specially trained to address the unique needs of our school customers. Staff members hold multiple certifications including Certified School Risk Manager, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Fire Protection Specialist, Associate in Loss Control Management, and others. Consultants have access to advanced service tools for worker safety, auto loss prevention, and a number of school specific services like our “Practical Safety & Security for Schools” series, our on-site assessments, and training programs.
